Google Files Go - The Must Have App for Android Smartphone and Tablet Users

Android Smartphones and Tablets have improved immensely over recent years, and the number of apps available is increasing exponentially.

As the consumer and business worlds have bought into the 'mobile first' mantra of marketers, web designers and software vendors, there is not just an app for pretty much anything you can think of, but likely a choice of several doing pretty much the same thing.

With better and better quality cameras creating larger and larger image files and the opportunity to download all sorts of files - documents, spreadsheets, presentations and video - for work and play, most phones and tablets will likely run out of space sooner rather than later.

Before long, you'll be getting 'out of space' or 'low memory' messages when trying to update apps, download files or take yet more photos.

Even though you've got a decent smartphone with what you thought was plenty of memory at the time, and you've added a 32GB or 64GB SD card, the 'out of memory' messages seem to appear with increasing frequency and you are spending more and more time deciding which apps to remove or which photos to delete or which of those hilarious WhatsApp clips you really want to keep.

Or maybe you spend twenty minutes going through the settings - once again trying to work out how to configure the camera to store pictures to the SD card by default instead of the phone's memory... before giving up - until the next time.

This is clearly a problem that many of us have - and fortunately, Google has come up with another app that should save us all a lot of wasted time and reduce frustration levels that are invoked by memory limitations on Android smartphones and tablets.

Files Go App from Google
Files Go is a neat little app (it only takes up around 17.5 MB, so you should be able to squeeze it on!) that simplifies the process of managing space on your Android device. It tells you at a glance which files are taking up most space, apps that you haven't used for a while (and could perhaps uninstall) and lets you copy files from your phone's memory to your SD memory card.

Google's Files Go app has a wonderfully simple interface, so you don't have to bother with going through setup menus or going through individual apps to delete content. Want to clean up your WhatsApp account? Files Go will do it for you. Want to see which files are taking up all your space? Files Go shows you the largest files and lets you delete them or move them elsewhere.

Since Google released the Files Go app in December 2017 it has already had over 10m downloads, so it is clearly addressing a problem that afflicts many Android smartphone and tablet users.

The latest version offers support for SD cards and tablet computers running the Android operating system.

This is one of those tools that just works. The user interface is clean and intuitive and the vast majority of users will have no difficulty using Files Go to sort our their apps and free up space.

This is a lightweight app, and let's hope Google keeps it that way. Too many apps constantly add features and try to 'improve' the interface.

Files Go does a specific job well - and from the number of downloads and great reviews, it looks like Google has hit the spot straight out of the gates.

In an ideal world, smartphone manufacturers would include more memory in their mainstream models and app developers would write tighter code and less bloated apps, but in the meantime, most of us will have to deal with the chore of managing memory usage on our Android smartphones and tablets.

So if you want to get your memory under control and stop wasting time that could be better spend doing more productive things, head over to the Google Play store and install Files Go now!
